People often ask about drainage and if it is important when considering a rock wall or retaining wall. Yes it is! Wall failures are almost always related to two things drainage or footings.

With a retaining wall in place, the soil fills in the space behind the wall rather than spilling out onto the ground. They can be used anywhere sloped ground is causing a problem in some way, as in construction projects to keep dirt from encroaching onto a house’s uphill facing foundation. Likewise, a retaining wall can prevent erosion away from a foundation on the downhill side.

Another common application for retaining walls is to terrace a slope for landscaping purposes. The wall’s perimeter can be straight, or curved for a more interesting look. A series of short walls that are offset one on top of the other are used to create planting beds going up the elevation of the slope.

Drainage

We always install drainage behind our walls and make sure it ties into a complete drainage plan for the property. It is important to us that the job is done correctly so it only has to be done once. When we build a wall you will see the care that is taken to ensure it will last.

Footings

Just like building a house, it’s imperative to start on solid ground, and the same goes for rockeries and retaining walls. You can build the best wall in the world but if you build it on poor soil conditions it won’t last. This is an area that we take our time and use our experience to guarantee it will last.

Beauty

Aside from the pure utility a retaining wall provides, they can also be quite decorative. When thought out and designed well, retaining walls will add curb appeal and value to your home. A skillfully crafted retaining wall will give a clean, professional look to your property, adding aesthetic appeal which will set it apart from other homes in the neighborhood.

Choose from modern flat face units, traditional radius face units and rustic tumbled units for the wall that best compliments your landscape and structures. The wall can be designed to convey a contemporary look for modern architecture, or a more organic look for traditional houses.

We offer a variety of products from ½ man basalt to ecology blocks and a wide variety in between.  All our walls are expertly constructed for safety, functionality and as a beautiful centerpiece to your landscape.  Allow us the opportunity to construct your next or first rock wall.
